Rugg said he founded the museum in 2004 because he wanted to "have a bigger part in trying to solve this mystery."
"I'm so sure this is real, I don't care what anybody says," he said.

In our testing, we've come up with more evidence to indicate it's true than the opposite."
Rugg, who recounted his own Bigfoot sighting as a toddler in 1950, told the gathered crowd that, since he founded the museum in 2004, he's had an opportunity to further his research and hear numerous firsthand tales of sightings.
"Our museum is trying to serve as an advocate for eyewitnesses," he said. "People have been reporting anomalous events that our scientific authority figures have relegated to complete nonsense. What we're saying is, give these folks a break. There are plenty of things to learn yet."
Entering the Bigfoot Discovery Museum, one is confronted by plaster casts of giant feet, looping footage of the infamous Patterson-Gimlin film, where an unidentified creature bounds across the screen, and Bigfoot-themed art. There is also a wall-sized map of Santa Cruz County, with pushpins detailing reported local sightings, stretching from the Santa Cruz Mountains to Nisene Marks State Park in Aptos.
Boulder Creek resident Bill Tucker, a longtime volunteer with the museum who stood behind the counter alongside Capitola resident Mike Barrow, recounted his own experience coming into contact with the unknown. Tucker was camping in Washington in 1987, he said, in an isolated campground. He found himself at a river, where he had the feeling that he was being watched.
"Then, a bunch of rocks came across the river," he said. "This happened, off and on, for the next 12 hours. Something was trying to keep me out of there. I began to believe right then."Barrow said that his interest stemmed from the Patterson film, which was released when he was 7.
"It grabbed my imagination and, ever since, I've been looking," he said. Pleasanton resident Tom Yamarone has been involved with the museum in various capacities since it opened, he said. Yamarone, who writes Bigfoot-related folksongs, which he performed later in the evening, said that he was encouraged by Saturday's turnout.
"My interest in the subject is very active," Yamarone said. "It's great to see so many people turn out for this."
The Discovery Day moved to the Louden Nelson Center later in the evening, where further presentations were given, including discussions on the latest game-camera technology used in Bigfoot-tracking and a historical slide-show of newspaper reports on Bigfoot dating back to the mid-1800s.

(Not sure if that weakens her allegation or not -- I've never heard of that particular feature.) At the time, I didn't know enough about Bigfoot to ask her about the way he moved. Anyway, in a strange synchronicity, that very day while driving home, Richie mentioned to me that there had been a Bigfoot sighting in our area. I had said nothing to him about my student's story, and I don't even recall ever having discussed Bigfoot with him before then. Turns out his story took place in the 1970s -- but it was just a few miles down 190 from where my student had had her sighting. I haven't thought much about Bigfoot until a few days ago when my friend Jocy, who is a teacher's assistant at UMHB, mentioned to some students in one of her classes about my student's 2010 sighting. When Jocy prodded this person, he started to refuse to answer, saying everyone would think he was crazy. But she encouraged him and he finally told of a time he was driving down FM 116 and noticed some "dude" walking within the treeline across a field. Higdon describ'ia la escena como un mundo oscuro en donde una inmensa torre centelleaba con una luz brillante e hiriente. El aire era gris y brumoso. Cerca de all'i cinco seres humanos hablaban, ajenos a la llegada de Higdon.
Seg'un Higdon, tuvo poco tiempo para observar la escena porque enseguida fue introducido en una habitaci'on de reconocimiento en el interior de la torre. All'i le esperaba el ser que secuestr'o al testigo, que le pidi'o que se tumbase sobre una superficie horizontal. Dentro de los cristales hab'ia figuras humanas inm'oviles, incrustadas como mosquitos en ambar y vestidas con trajes de 'epocas pasadas. Andreasson record'o que despu'es fue alejada de esa desconcertante exposici'on y llevada a una zona oscura que conten'ia una nave de metal, de la cual sali'o en un lugar parecido a un bosque de cristal. All'i, seg'un Andreasson unas criaturas con un perturbador aspecto, parecidas a lemures trepaban por unos edificios cuadrados que se alzaban a ambos lados de la vagoneta. Los seres ten'ian unos grandes ojos unidos a unos ap'endices que sobresal'ian de sus cuellos sin cabeza. Las criaturas aterrorizaron a Andreasson con sus miradas pero la dejaron pasar sin molestarla. Despu'es, la mujer y los seres con capucha cruzaron una barrera circular que daba acceso a un gran espacio subterr'aneo ba~nado con una luz verdosa que revelaba mares brumosos, vegetaci'on exuberante y una preciosa ciudad a lo lejos. El prodigioso recorrido que Andreasson record'o despu'es estaba a punto de terminar. Unas cuatro horas despu'es de haber dejado su casa, volvi'o a encontrarse en ella y la mujer y su familia, a'un aturdida se acostaron. Andreasson tuvo solo unos recuerdos vagos de toda su experiencia hasta que se someti'o a unas sesiones de hipnosis diez a~nos mas tarde.

Laid-back Write off as of event/sighting: My degree brother was walking apartment on n.y.e counting his girlfriend and said he saw a variety of frightening orangey lights in the sky (not lanterns or fireworks) They were just so dowry, not dreamlike or anything, after that they just so used up, later than in the instant of an eye. So me being me, I am well stylish the UFO/stars thing by the way and I never moved out apartment counting out my camcorder. I was important up Cabell Rd, Guildford on 04.01.09, just so moved out my girlfriends house. I back pressed up this route at night a million times, possibly level two million times as I've been counting her for 9 excitement now and I say to someplace all the stars are in the sky at that time of year ect. I saw these two orangey lights just so on the horizon. I would say, est a mile up and half a mile out-of-the-way. So I hit the brakes, jumped out the car (it's 12.35am) and tried to film them. At first I didn't resist I got distant (in a minute filmed for 6 seconds, after that they used up, but looking over the film since I dance it at 1 support at a time, you can particularly see a triangle shape of 3 orangey lights and one detached one on it's own to the sound, which something like looked such as balls of fling. Mysterious huh.
