Staged Saturday by the Alliance of Independent Bigfoot Researchers and the Bigfoot Discovery Project, the event has been held every year since 2006, the Santa Cruz (Calif.) Sentinel reported.About 50 people attended the outdoor lunch and meeting in the town of 1,051 people north of Santa Cruz to hear of purported Bigfoot sightings and examine evidence.
Many of the stories were told with an emphasis on Santa Cruz County, the newspaper reported Saturday. "We have plenty of evidence of a Bigfoot presence up here in the mountains," Michael Rugg, curator of the town's Bigfoot Discovery Museum, said.
"I have some vocalizations we've recorded, we have some video that we shot locally, and we have a number of eyewitnesses who have reported sightings," he said. "In our testing, we've come up with more evidence to indicate it's true than the opposite."
Rugg said he founded the museum in 2004 because he wanted to "have a bigger part in trying to solve this mystery."
"I'm so sure this is real, I don't care what anybody says," he said.

From local investigators to interested families with children, more than 50 people attended the outdoor lunch and roundtable discussion, where purported Bigfoot sightings and evidence were presented, and numerous stories were told with an emphasis on Santa Cruz County.
Bigfoot Discovery Museum founder and curator Michael Rugg officiated, answering questions and facilitating much of the day's discussion. Rugg said the goal of the annual Discovery Day is to get people in Santa Cruz County to realize that the museum is not just a roadside attraction on the side of Highway 9, but a center for diligent research.
"We have plenty of evidence of a Bigfoot presence up here in the mountains," Rugg said. "I have some vocalizations we've recorded, we have some video that we shot locally, and we have a number of eye witnesses who have reported sightings. In our testing, we've come up with more evidence to indicate it's true than the opposite."
Rugg, who recounted his own Bigfoot sighting as a toddler in 1950, told the gathered crowd that, since he founded the museum in 2004, he's had an opportunity to further his research and hear numerous firsthand tales of sightings.
"Our museum is trying to serve as an advocate for eyewitnesses," he said. "People have been reporting anomalous events that our scientific authority figures have relegated to complete nonsense. What we're saying is, give these folks a break. There are plenty of things to learn yet."
Entering the Bigfoot Discovery Museum, one is confronted by plaster casts of giant feet, looping footage of the infamous Patterson-Gimlin film, where an unidentified creature bounds across the screen, and Bigfoot-themed art. There is also a wall-sized map of Santa Cruz County, with pushpins detailing reported local sightings, stretching from the Santa Cruz Mountains to Nisene Marks State Park in Aptos.
Boulder Creek resident Bill Tucker, a longtime volunteer with the museum who stood behind the counter alongside Capitola resident Mike Barrow, recounted his own experience coming into contact with the unknown. Tucker was camping in Washington in 1987, he said, in an isolated campground. He found himself at a river, where he had the feeling that he was being watched.
"Then, a bunch of rocks came across the river," he said. "This happened, off and on, for the next 12 hours. Something was trying to keep me out of there. I began to believe right then."Barrow said that his interest stemmed from the Patterson film, which was released when he was 7.
"It grabbed my imagination and, ever since, I've been looking," he said. Pleasanton resident Tom Yamarone has been involved with the museum in various capacities since it opened, he said. Yamarone, who writes Bigfoot-related folksongs, which he performed later in the evening, said that he was encouraged by Saturday's turnout.
"My interest in the subject is very active," Yamarone said. "It's great to see so many people turn out for this."
The Discovery Day moved to the Louden Nelson Center later in the evening, where further presentations were given, including discussions on the latest game-camera technology used in Bigfoot-tracking and a historical slide-show of newspaper reports on Bigfoot dating back to the mid-1800s.
Rugg said the day was a success. He added that he founded the museum in 2004 because he wanted to "have a bigger part in trying to solve this mystery."I'm so sure this is real, I don't care what anybody says," he said.
A scientist in Idaho found a fossilized Bigfoot skull.
Ralph Barnkopf came by the West Coast offices of WWN and showed us a Bigfoot skull he found in the woods outside Boise.

They snowmachined to where the trap was set and checked the trap.However, when they were done and ready to go back home to Toksook Bay, the snowmachine's puller came off and could not start. They were stranded so the two climbed one of the Ingriaraak and got a cell phone signal. The man called home and asked for someone to come and get them.After calling, the man and his son walked down back to the snowmachine to wait. It started to rain and the boy was getting cold. The boy wanted to start walking and since there had been no reports of upcoming bad weather for that day and the trail markers were visible, the two decided to start walking back towards Nightmute.The man wanted to bring home his catch so he unhooked his sled from behind the snowmachine and pulled it behind him while walking. His son rode in the sled for a while and then got out to walk beside his father. They were still quite a ways from reaching the Qalvinraaq River.They had been walking for about an hour when the man happened to look behind them. About 200 yards away there, behind them, was a very tall, large, dark, strong-looking, muscular person-like creature standing, watching them. The man's heart quailed but he did not show it to his son. His son, in the meantime, also saw the creature and waved to it, thinking it was a member of the search and rescue team coming to get them.At this point, the thought that it may be Bigfoot did not cross the man's mind. Fear flooded his mind, thinking it was an alangruq, or ghost. The man remembered his mother's words to not look back no matter how powerful the urge was to turn and look. He maintained his control and calmly told his son not to wave at the creature or to look at it.So on they continued walking towards Nightmute, following the trail markers because the man knew that any search and rescue party would be coming for them following that same well-marked trail.Only when he saw the lights of the oncoming snowmachines did he dare look back. And when he did, he did not see anything except the frozen tundra. He told the rescuers about what they had seen and experienced and asked if they could all go back to see if there were any footprints made by the creature. But no, the rescuers did not want to. It was getting dark and they were anxious to get back to the village.During the time when they were walking, the man had taken out his phone to record what was behind him, pointing the phone over his shoulder without looking behind him. When they were safely in the village at Nightmute and eating at the home of a friend, the man told them what they had seen. He remembered his recording and took out his cell phone to view the footage, but alas, it had been somehow accidentally erased or deleted, or there was the possibility that he might not have hit the recording button at all.His sharp-eyed son also described the creature as a yugpak, a very large person. He said the shoulders were very broad and powerful. The arms were long and strong-looking, like a wrestler's arms. They reached down to its knees. There were also some light colored markings or textures on the creature's chest and stomach where the muscles stood out.Back home in Toksook, the man told his wife and it made her feel scared. He told his wife's parents, his parents, his grandparents, and his friends what they had seen. The next day he read about the Bigfoot sighting that occurred in the spring of 2012 in Kasigluk in the latest issue of the Delta Discovery, the January 16th, 2013 edition. It was the first published eyewitness account of a sighting in the newspaper.The following day the man wanted to go back to that same area to look for footprints but the weather turned and a blizzard blew in so he stayed home.

This time, North America's, yet undiscovered "Great Ape", has been reportedly terrorizing Mormons. Now, I don't mean that Bigfoot has been chasing after members of "The Church of Later Day Saints" on their little bicycles like some out-of-control beef jerky commercial. Two Mormon missionaries received quite a scare when they woke up on December 2nd to find large "human-like" footprints outside their Burns Lake home.
At first the pair thought that they were the brunt of a prank, "The first thing we thought was that someone was playing a trick on us," said Tyler Beck, a local missionary who has been in the Houston area for two years. "But we don't know anyone our age who would do that and our house in on the south side, so pretty much in the middle of nowhere."
Beck, who until this week didn't believe in the mythical creature, described the prints as being some twenty inches in length.
The tracks were discovered right in front of the home, and continued on past the adjacent wood shed.
"I still don't know what to think," he said. "I have heard some pretty ridiculous things about Bigfoot but now I am leaning toward the edge of thinking it may be possible."
Also Larry Sommerfield, a self-proclaimed Sasquatch hunter, has in his possession a cast of a sixteen inch print which he claims was made in August in a gravel pit just east of the Kitselas First Nation's subdivision near Terrace (BC) on Hwy 16.
Earlier this year the area of Moricetown, near Houston, was the location of several credible sightings. Brian Vike, Director of HBCC UFO research, is still trying to follow-up on some of those reports, "As near as I can tell, the sightings all happened after the end of September but I have called and called but no one is calling me back."
It seems that the eyewitnesses may be shy, but so far Bigfoot hasn't been.

The alleged Bigfoot was walking in a field beyond the intersection of CR 2657 and HWY 190. I pulled my student aside later and explained that I research things like this and to level with me -- had she been telling the truth? She said she was, that she really had seen what looked like a Bigfoot. (She even seemed a little embarrassed by it, being a pretty practical, streetwise, type.) I asked her if she would know the difference between a Bigfoot and a Ghillie suit, and she said she would have known if it were a Ghillie suit. The only thing I remember specifically about her description of the Bigfoot was that his arms were "huge." I have heard of them being long, but she seemed struck by their thickness as well. (Not sure if that weakens her allegation or not -- I've never heard of that particular feature.) At the time, I didn't know enough about Bigfoot to ask her about the way he moved. Anyway, in a strange synchronicity, that very day while driving home, Richie mentioned to me that there had been a Bigfoot sighting in our area. I had said nothing to him about my student's story, and I don't even recall ever having discussed Bigfoot with him before then. Turns out his story took place in the 1970s -- but it was just a few miles down 190 from where my student had had her sighting. I haven't thought much about Bigfoot until a few days ago when my friend Jocy, who is a teacher's assistant at UMHB, mentioned to some students in one of her classes about my student's 2010 sighting. One of her students said, "Was this off FM 116?" Now, FM 116 runs parallel to CR 2657 and they connect by several different roads. When Jocy prodded this person, he started to refuse to answer, saying everyone would think he was crazy. But she encouraged him and he finally told of a time he was driving down FM 116 and noticed some "dude" walking within the treeline across a field. Then he realized how impossibly tall this person would have had to be for him to see him through the treeline. When Jocy asked him about the gait of the person, he imitated it and it was that exact bobbing gait specific to Bigfoot sightings. That's all I've got. Not much, but I'm starting to develop an interest in the possibility of Bigfoot around here. I'd love to do an expedition, but most of the land is private so I'm not sure how I'd swing that.

Staff who were monitoring the clearing operation by contractors could retire to this office during lunch hour and have a little shut eye after their meal, not being bothered by leeches or blood sucking flies. As work progressed, the office got a little bigger. Files were now stored in the office as well as copies of important documents. The directors thought that employing night watchmen for the office was a good idea, especially since the felling contractors stored the diesoline for their machines in drums in the office compound.A night watchman was soon working in the office compound from 7pm to 7am everyday. All he had with him however in order to perform his duties were a stout pole, a torchlight, a hurricane lamp and the key to the toilet (the directors thought that if he really got into trouble, he could lock himself up in the toilet!). The watchman reported to the staff that arrived at the office at 7am every morning, before he signed off for the day. Everything went on fine for a while. The watchman had nothing to report every morning. There were no incidents during the night.One day however, when the staff arrived in the morning, there was no sign of the watchman. What greeted them however was a picture of destruction. Flower pots were smashed, and the diesel drums were tossed about or overturned. The desk and table at which the watchman used to sit were smashed. When the staff was taking all this in, they heard a faint voice calling them. 'Tuan', ' tuan ' ( Sir, Sir ), it called weakly. The staff checked for the location of the voice and found it to be coming from the top of a coconut palm nearby. There almost at the top of the palm tree was perched the watchman. He was as pale as a ghost and trembling like a leaf. The staff coaxed him to come down which he did slowly and painfully. When the staff inquired as to what had happened, this is what he had to say.At around 2am, the watchman heard a series of piercing screams coming from the jungle just outside the office compound. He immediately put out his hurricane lamp, and crouched in a corner and watched the area from where the sound was coming. It was a moonlit night, and the watchman could see very clearly. The screams got closer. Suddenly, breaking out of the undergrowth stood what the watchman could describe only as a gorilla. It was ape like, covered in dark hair and stood about four feet tall. It looked immensely powerful as it lumbered toward where the diesel drums were kept. The watchman watched in fear and trepidation as the creature grabbed the forty five gallon drums filled with diesel and flung them around like toys. The drums were stored at the other end of the office compound from where the watchman was. As soon as the creature had finished with the drums, it moved towards the flower pots. The watchman did not wait any longer. He crept away out of sight of the creature and climbed up the coconut palm. With ear piercing shrieks, the creature continued its destruction of whatever was in the compound. Then silence fell. The watchman did not dare move from his perch, fearing the creature might still be around. The fact that it looked ape like did not help matters much as scaling up the palm tree would be the easiest thing for it.The watchman quit immediately. Another was employed. Everything went on as usual for a time. Then when the staff arrived one morning, it was a repeat of the above incident. The office door had been smashed in. Chairs and tables that were present in the office were flung in the lawn in front of the office. This time however, the new watchman was not up a tree. He had locked himself up in the toilet as he had no time to make it to the tree. The creature had moved too fast. For good measure, the watchman climbed on top of the water cistern which was in the toilet. It was a concrete structure about seven feet above ground. This guard had the same tale to tell. When critical thinkers approach the subject of Bigfoot (or cryptozoology in general) with a focus on the evidence, they are met with reproach. We are challenging much more than the claim; we challenge their belief. They will resort to what Biblical literalists will do to evolutionists - they demonize, call us names, misquote, pick at small mistakes, and take words and ideas out of context. They create an extreme position and shoot it down (called a "straw man" argument) because it's a power play to make them feel superior. (Note that some aggressive "skeptics" will do that and it's not fair play in that case either.) All the while, they skirt the MAJOR flaws in their own conclusions. Bigfoot-themed and other cryptozoology blogs and forums are typically hostile to skeptics, even moderate ones like myself. They can't understand why we even want to participate since we are going to "deny" everything. Gee, sorry for being interested in the topic and in getting a good answer for peoples' experiences. Questioning is not denying, it's thinking. One popular Bigfoot blog posts every crazy claim or video under the heading "Bigfoot Evidence". They get hits regardless that the content can be outwardly sexist and rude and crude comments are allowed. Those that contribute to this site are considered Bigfoot "experts" even though their qualifications are shallow and questionable. Their information comes from one side only and they won't acknowledge skeptical input unless they have an opportunity to mock it. (The exact same methods are used on other paranormal sites that refuse to acknowledge critical pieces about their pet topics. Hmm... cowardly? Yes. And, I would add, intellectually dishonest.) It's seen to be more profitable, socially and economically, to be a Bigfoot believer than a scientific skeptic. While I'd like that to change, I don't think it will. We have every reason to question the Bigfoot evidence out there. It's not good, it's flimsy. Oh, sure, a hundred people will chime in and disagree. I expect that. Just like Loxton and Prothero expected huge pushback from the Bigfoot community. Predictably, that's what they got. These outraged commentators provide nothing new or convincing. Just like the tired old arguments in favor of Creationism, Bigfooters have their go-to tales and favorite examples. Why have these theories not been supported by stronger evidence over time? The field has not advanced, except in public popularity. Bigfoot is an icon, a commodity. But it's still not a valid animal. Are you on the fence about Bigfoot, just curious about the topic? Want a great example of solid research written in an entertaining fashion? Pick up a copy of Abominable Science and weigh that against what you see on TV and on the pro-Bigfoot internet sites. Note the tone, language and quality of arguments of each circle. Observe the difference between examining the evidence of the subject and having faith in it. There is a HUGE and obvious gap." Luckily I had the opportunity recently to check out an early screening of the excellent film "The Bigfoot Hunter: Still Searching." The documentary tells the story of Timothy Holmes founder of Southern Tier Bigfoot Watch and the Who Forted? Gang, in an earlier incarnation known as GHI or Ghost Hunters Incorporated, who joined him in the woods of southern New York in order to hunt the elusive cryptid.

Its pretty funny the first time one of them sees that Holmes is carrying a gun, and seems genuinely frightened of this prospect. But to Holmes, the gun is a safety measure to protect you from an angry Bigfoot. I can't recommend this film enough, it's so rare to find a documentary in the paranormal field that isn't either trying to debunk the subject entirely or worse looking for evidence under every rock and tree.
