Posted: February 11, 2008Date: September 24, 2007 Time: 11:55 a.m.Location of Sighting: Approximately 25 km SW of Edmonton, on a secondary road. Number of witnesses: 1 Number of objects: 1 Shape of objects: Sort of blimp shaped, but longer and narrower. I first thought it was a jumbo passenger jet that had been shortened to about half its normal length.Full Description of event/sighting: Five of us were bicycling together on a secondary road about 25 Kms SE of Edmonton. It was a cloudless day with no wind. We were traveling due west, the sun was on my left. Crossing a gravel intersection I glanced to my right to ensure there was no traffic, we were traveling about 20 kph, in single file, I was second in line.Something made me look up and I saw this pure white object, stationary in the sky. The brilliant, pure whiteness was startling and made me take a second look. It was like a cloud except it didn't have rough edges but had a clear outline, smooth, like an airplane. I then thought it might be a reflection of the sun off of a cloud but there was not another cloud in the entire sky. The second thing that made this seem odd to me was there was no sound. Traveling on a bike in the countryside there is an almost absence of noise, it's common to hear the birds chirping. There was zero sound except the hiss of tires on pavement. The next odd thing was the object was motionless. It just didn't move. A plane would have had sufficient motion to be detectable. I know it wasn't a blimp because there are never any blimps in the Edmonton area, if there had been one that day it would have been on the news. As we continued riding, I pointed at it and yelled to the guy in front "What do you make of that?" Before he could look a row of trees blocked our view of that part of the sky,but the guy behind me immediately shouted "I saw it too, (name removed)." We cleared the trees within 30 seconds and looked again. The sky was empty. Nothing. No sign of anything ever being there. No vapor trail, no blimp drifting away, no airplane in the distance. (We hadn't seen a plane all morning.) Nothing.And still no sound. At no time did any of us hear any noise from above us, like a jet engine or a propeller plane. We discussed what it might have been, we both agreed on the general description and jokingly said it must have been a UFO. As the days passed I continued to think about it and am now convinced that whatever it was it wasn't a human-made object. Discussing the pros and cons of various hypothesis for UFOs, Torme gave credence to the interplanetary explanation, noting that the galaxy is probably teeming with life, while Fox considered the dimensional theory a possibility, considering how UFOs seem to wink out or disappear.
Fox, who announced a 100,000 reward for proof of an ET craft, also entertained the idea that UFOs could be associated with time travelers, returning to our time period as a kind of history lesson. Torme, who was acquainted with the late Gene Roddenberry (the creator of Star Trek), shared the surprising revelation that Roddenberry actually thought UFO reports were bunk, as did astronomer Carl Sagan and sci-fi legend Ray Bradbury. Another case that impressed Fox and will be featured in 701 was the 1994 Zimbabwe incident, in which numerous school children saw a craft landing, and aliens who sent telepathic messages to them.

The Government allegedly covered up the "Welsh Roswell" incident, in the Berwyn mountain range in 1974, after scores of residents reported a massive tremor, strange lights in the sky and "Men in Black" scouring the area.
Claims that aliens crash-landed and their bodies were then transported by the Ministry of Defence to the top-secret research base Porton Down in Wiltshire were dismissed by Whitehall officials.
But suspicions about what really happened were re-ignited in May this year when hundreds of MoD documents about UFO sightings were released, with none containing any details about the Berwyn incident, reviving rumours of a cover-up.
Now, fresh evidence by retired gamekeeper Geraint Edwards, of Llandderfel, Denbighshire, has reopened the debate.
He told the makers of a new Channel Five documentary, which is being broadcast tonight, how he stood in amazement as a flying saucer hovered for 10 minutes above the mountains before it disappeared into space at impossible speed.
He said: "It was definitely a flying saucer. It was a pity I didn't have a camera because it was there for at least 10 minutes, just hovering.
"We were on the way down to play darts when something caught our eye in the south-east, so we stopped.
"It looked like a rugger ball, but the ends of it were more pointy.
"When it took off, it just went like lightning on the same line as it hovered.
"It hovered back to the mountain, and (then it was) gone.
"I wrote it down in my diary. It was 6.45pm on the Friday night.
"If we were coming back from the pub, people would be saying, 'they've had one or two (drinks)' but we were going to the pub."
His former neighbour, Pat Evans, a district nurse who gave a detailed eye-witness account of the phenomenon at the time, moved abroad to escape the mass attention she attracted from the media, UFO investigators and scientists.
But Mr Edwards has decided to speak out for the first time about his close encounter on February 15, 1974, for tonight's television programme re-examining the evidence.
Three weeks earlier, on January 23, the villages of Llandrillo and Llandderfel, near Corwen, were rocked by a tremor measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale.
Reports of unexplained strange coloured lights and objects in the sky immediately afterwards and unusual military activity in the following weeks fuelled speculation that a UFO had crash-landed.
Sceptics maintain the explanation was an unlikely combination of an earthquake which struck Wales at the same time that a meteor shower passed overhead, and that "Men in Black" who residents reported seeing were actually seismologists researching the quake.
They also insist Pat Evans, who saw a "bright orb, the size of the Moon" with twinkling around the edges, was actually looking at a lamp carried by poachers on a nearby mountainside.
The absence of any material on the incident from the newly released MoD documents in May has roused suspicions from other eye-witnesses.

Farmer Huw Lloyd, 48, who was a teenager at the time, said: "Whatever it was, it was kept quiet. And things that have happened have been covered up."
Retired North Wales Police Assistant Chief Constable Elfed Roberts, who was a sergeant at the time of UFO incident, was rushing to Llandrillo moments after the tremor with his superior when they saw the mysterious lights.
He said: "As we were driving, all of a sudden we saw this green light in the sky ahead of us and it seemed to be an arcing light, but it was very sudden, totally unexpected, different to anything ever seen before."

There was also the "murder" of a teacher on the playground, witnessed by staff and students.
The usual reason for these events is given: to facilitate creative writing within students. Sometimes there are variations on the motives; sharpening critical thinking skills is another reason given in past scenarios.

* There is the threat of violence or outright violent actions
* Local police are involved, taking part in the fake event as they pretend to investigate
* Reasons given for these faked events: encourage student's creativity, facilitate the imagination, sharpen critical thinking skills
These events are not limited to the UK; the U.S. has been active in staging violent scenes in schools, though not of the UFO kind, as far as I know. Other countries, incluidng Canada, have also particpated in these drills/faked scenes.
