Living Dinosaurs; the Mokele MbembeJurassic Albatross- The Mokele Mbembe, known by different names around Africa is a large dinosaur like monster said to be aggressive, but not carnivorous. It has a long neck and mainly lives in rivers, hibernating in caves during the dry season. With the small head and big body it seems to resemble a sea serpent, but no sea serpent has for columnar legs capable of supporting its weight on dry land. Is the Mokele Mbembe a living Sauropod dinosaur? The first references to the Mokele Mbembe; the one who stops the flow of rivers, can be found in French missionary Abb'e Lievain Bonaventure's 1776 book where he describes animals of the Congo. One passage describes a set of footprints possible referable to this cryptid; "must have been monstrous: the marks of the claws were noted on the ground, and these formed a print about three feet in circumference."Other documents of footprints show consistency in having been large, at around 3 feet wide and three toed;1919-1920, expedition into Africa conducted by the Smithsonian Institution; "African guides found large, unexplained tracks along the bank of a river" (Field Guide To Lake Monsters by Loren Coleman and Patrick Huyghe)
1927; Alfred Aloysius Smith, a trader working in Gabon during the 1800's wrights in his memoir Trader Bon where he refers to an unknown creature that leaves round three clawed footprints.1966; Yvan Ridel photographs a set of three toed footprints near Laubomo.Sightings showing the Mokele Mbembe to be long necked and large bodied;1909; Lt Paul Gratz refers to a native legend in Zambia of a Sauropod like creature.1909; Big game hunter Carl Hagenbeck in his autobiography Beasts and Men refers to multiple sources including other big game hunters and natives in the Congo area informing him of a creature "half elephant, half dragon" or "some kind of dinosaur, seemingly akin to the brontosaurs".*1913; German Captain Freiherr von Stein zu Lausnitz includes descriptions of a beast sighted by natives in Cameroon; "The animal is said to be of a brownish-gray color with a smooth skin, its size is approximately that of an elephant; at least that of a hippopotamus. It is said to have a long and very flexible neck and only one tooth but a very long one; some say it is a horn. A few spoke about a long, muscular tail like that of an alligator."**1939; in the German Colonial Gazette (Angola) a letter by Frau Ilse von Nolde describes encounters with a long necked monster called "coye ya menia" ("water lion").
1976; botanical expedition into Zaire lead by James Powell, monster called the "n'yamala" described to him by natives. When they were shown pictures of animals alive and extinct the natives said that of the long necked Diplodocus dinosaur most resembled the creature.

History Channel Ufo And The White House Did Cheney Indirectly Tell Consequences
On Thursday, December 2, the History Channel aired a one hour documentary "UFOS AND THE WHITE HOUSE". The most challenging incident in the documentary occurs near the end. A journalist calls a talk show interviewing former Vice President Dick Cheney and asks about the "truth" behind government knowledge of UFOs and contact with extraterrestrials. Cheney says "Well, if I had such information it would be classified and I couldn't talk about it." That is, he doesn't deny it. There is a natural inclination to think that most incoming presidents and administrations would believe they could disclose anything like this to the American people if they chose. Why not? Maybe there is information that we would be destroyed, say by an alien EMP (high altitude electromagnetic pulse) attack first if we did.Now if a president disclosed such information, it would take at least 20 years for the signal to the nearest solar system having a reasonable chance of an advanced civilization (that's M-star Gliese), and maybe a century for it to return, so that would be dooming generations 100+ years down the road. Or maybe the aliens have an outpost in our Solar System (such as Titan, the largest moon of Saturn), a little more than one light hour away. Or maybe, as in Clive Barker's novel "Imajica," the aliens come from parallel universes instantaneously and can look more or less like us.The rest of the movie covered some well known incidents, starting with a supposed sighting on the West Coast in 1942 (this could have inspired the 1944 alien crash in the NBC series "The Event"), and then Roswell in 1947, and then a blitz over DC in 1952, as well as some sort of crash in the Laurel Mountains near Kecksburg, PA in 1965 (picture above). Bill Clinton said, at least 8 times, that young workers have a better chance of seeing a UFO than collecting their full social security benefits in the future. There was a "scare" at the White House from a UFO in 2005, according to the film. End of TV Reviews feed

Life With My Live In Companion Hweig
By Ida M. KannenburgUsed by permissionfromThe Missing Link magazine. In the beginning of our association Hweig managed to terrify me with his explanations of who he was and what he was doing and what he intended to do. I was most fearful that my mind was going to be taken over by an alien personality, that I would be possessed by another entity, and that I, myself, would be forever banished from this earth! I was not agreeable to that! After years of this mental telepathic constant contact, I feel I am very much myself, even more so, for I know myself so much better. I have had to face up to myself. And Hweig is still only Hweig, a rascal, though an endearing one.Believe me this Hweig:Ida or Ida:Hweig collaboration and understanding has been reached with a great many battles between us, a great deal of stomping and yelling on my part, and a great many sighs and apologies on his.People, curious, have been asking me many questions. What does it feel like to have someone talking inside of your head? Is Hweig always there? Does he give you answers to your problems? Does he prophesy the future? Does he ever interrupt when you are talking to others? Can he converse with you right now? How about privacy, is he always listening in and observing? Does he always know what you are thinking? Who is he anyway? Is he a person like us?And so on. These questions are so often repeated I thought Hweig and I could answer some of them by this means. What is it like to have a telepathic live-in companion who always seems to know everything I do and think? Well, sometimes it is sheer aggravation; I am married! And sometimes it is absolutely hilarious! To myself, one of the biggest questions has always been: Why is Hweig a constant companion? Is he a monitor only? Why do the UFO personalities, whom he claims to represent, possibly care what I say and do every minute? I am not anyone. Why is my daily routine of such importance to them? Why did Hweig so entrench himself in my mind and in my life that I cannot dislodge him, no matter what I do? I have begged, pleaded, wept, screamed, but after reaching many compromises he is still with me.Hweig has put me through some very painful processes, but he declares they were necessary in order that he learn my levels of tolerance and modes of reaction so that the best possible use might be made of my peculiar talents and abilities. Certain limitations had to be overcome, or at least ameliorated. And when I cuss him out from time to time I am only letting him know the limits of my compliance.Eventually I told Hweig, "If you are really real, and a human being like us, and I should ever meet you, I am going to march right up to you and poke you in the nose for all the mischief you have given me."He said, "If you do, I will turn you over my knee and spank you."To specify, here is one incident with my live-in companion I found amusing and exasperating at the same time.Hweig had been nagging and pushing me to get some writing done and I had been bending over a hot typewriter for weeks, even months. I had been doing nothing except eating and sleeping and typing all without noticing that I was gaining weight. I began to have fierce pains along and between my shoulder blades which I thought was from typing so much. One day I woke up to the truth! My bras were too tight. Believe me, that can cause a real backache. So I said to my mother, "I am going to walk over to the mall and buy some new bras. I need a size larger."As I started down the road Hweig said, "You will need two sizes larger.""I said, "I do not! I know what size clothes I wear!""You'd better get two sizes," said Hweig. We argued all the way to the store. I picked out some bras I thought would do, arguing with Hweig all the while. When I took them up to the counter, a lady was checking out, so I had time to read a little sign: "No lingerie may be returned after leaving the store. You'd better try them on," said Hweig.I gave a great exasperated sign and said, "All right! Just to keep you happy I will!"And do you know what? He was right. I did need two sizes larger. But how did Hweig know that? This was very puzzling. What was the extent of his prying into my life and actions? More troubling than that, what was his purpose in doing so?I began to act like a paranoid cat watching a mouse hole. At the slightest sign of activity on his part, I pounced.I weighed and measured and analyzed and worried over every word he uttered, the way he uttered it, the time and place and conditions under which he uttered it, and counted every sigh, every laugh. I tried to detect his emotions beyond his words. Was he a little angry? Was he impatient? What was the reason behind what he said?In all my cat and mouse surveillance I have learned how very human his emotions are. He is quite softhearted, very patient, gentle, considerate, a great tease, and his jokes are often on the ribald side. Sometimes he puts his foot in his mouth and then is cut off quickly."Oh-oh," he will say, "I'm not supposed to reveal that!"We have worked together for so long that his emotions will often leak over into mine. I will be very sad or euphoric or even come close to tears when I have no reason for doing so. I will say, "What's wrong, Hweig? Something is happening?" And he will answer, "A plan has been canceled," or, "I've been given the go ahead on a pet project." Or, "A dear friend is leaving us."So I find my emotions can be affected by his. Talk about a live-in companion, how close can you get? When there are unhappy days in my personal life and I am feeling most disconsolate, I can feel a warmth gather around me, and Hweig will say, "Don't worry, Ida. Don't cry. Everything will work out right. It will be fine."I take this, not so much as a promise but as consolation offered by a dear friend.Often Hweig has said, "I can see through your eyes and hear through your ears." I could not imagine how this could be accomplished. Direct questions never brought satisfactory answers. However, I do take showers with my eyes shut. How could he see through my eyes and hear through my ears? Under hypnosis it was revealed there had been a UFO encounter many years ago at which time technological implants had been made. Consciously I mainly remember seeing a blazing red object come in over the desert at midnight. Bit by bit in these later years other remembrances are coming to mind.Does such an implant sound implausible? Not when we read in the science magazines about brain implants in monkeys. Such a short step to audiovisual implants in humans. With such mechanical devices that allow this, plus psychic abilities which permit further mind invasion and control, an alien, or an Earth, civilization could conduct any kind of surveillance, and their subject would have no defense against it, just as I have no defense against Hweig's constant surveillance. The "aliens" can do this now. How long before Earth science can do the same? Or can they do it now? Can the "aliens" be Earthians?I am not trying to scare talk. I am trying to relate what has been to me by persons whom seem compassionate and responsible. Can this be done in the near future by others who may not be as compassionate and responsible? Indeed, they could be utterly reprehensible! It is time to study what this kind of mind control, life control is all about. The first place of information should be those contactees who have experienced it.Hweig is very careful not to cause me any embarrassment. Except for one thing. When he gives out with a hearty laugh, I laugh too. I do not intend to laugh. I do not want to laugh. I don't see anything to laugh about. But HE does and I laugh, and in a manner and to a degree that is not mine. "I am only trying to cheer you up," he says. "I do not like to see you despondent."Hweig is an enormous tease. I suppose it does get boring and tedious always listening in to me 24 hours a day, though sometimes he takes a vacation for a week or so and someone else monitors. I try to tease Hweig back. The only trouble is he always know what I am thinking as soon as I know it myself. Therefore, it is very difficult to play any kind of joke on him. I managed it just once. I was looking for a special skillet in the pantry and talking all the while, interiorly of course, and so rapidly that for once Hweig did not keep up with my thinking.I said, "Not that skillet, it is too large, and that one is too small, that one is for square eggs, ah, this one is just right."Back came a quizzical little query, "Square eggs? I don't think I ever heard about square eggs!"I doubled over laughing to think I had really had the better of him, just once. A long time later he played a little joke on me, and said, "That is to get even for the square eggs. I never will live that down!"Now doesn't that sound like a very human person, one not connected with my own subconscious?I have included these little anecdotes here to point out a very important fact. Such incidents prove, to my own satisfaction at least, that Hweig is not an alter-ego, my own subconscious, nor a tulpa. He is a very physical human being, quite separate from myself, and very much like us.There are several things I can do to drive Hweig up the wall. If I sneeze, or forget and whistle, he will say, "Please warn me when you are going to do that. A sneeze sounds like thunder and a whistle pierces my eardrums like a dagger."Of course there is the problem that everything I can see, he can also. Not only Hweig, but his immediate "crew." Since their observation is through technological implants the whole scene can be played upon a screen, like our television, so Hweig says. I have tried to explain this to people, but no one takes me seriously except my dear sister."You mean he can see what I am doing right now? she asked."If I look at you," I answered. "And that is why simple situations can become rather delicate."Another reason why I believe Hweig cannot be part of my personality is our difference in food tastes. I used to order extra dill pickles with a hamburger until Hweig came into my life. Now I cannot eat pickles, nor peanut butter, nor bananas. Hweig calls bananas "monkey food." He says he cannot tolerate sour food of any kind, and that peanut butter stuck in his throat though he liked the taste. I advised him to eat it with honey or jelly. Later he said honey was fine and was eating it with gusto. I was too.To be continued

Melonhead Mysteries
c. 2007 Rod Ice

All rights reserved

(9-07)

It was just after daybreak, in Thompson.

I had been on the computer for half an hour, while lazily enjoying my first cup of coffee. Donut crumbs were sprinkled across my desk. They hinted at a long-standing household tradition - sweet treats on Saturday morning.

This ritual had begun when our young daughter professed a need for something special to celebrate the weekend. Soccer Fairy struck a mother-child bargain that lasted through the seasons. We would share sugary snacks together on that appointed day of the week. I agreed, while hoping for occasional diversions to the Waffle House in Concord. The lure of country ham, eggs, and grits still held a powerful attraction that chocolate hoops could not overwhelm.

Liz, my wife, slumbered as I researched a persistent bit of Geauga folklore. Columns I'd written about the county's 1957 UFO incident had inspired many local comments. But the Corvette Guy himself offered an angle that was most appealing. Since I had completed the mission of investigating his alien encounter story, my friend wanted more. He called to ask a profound question: Since I had been so taken with the story of extraterrestrial visitation, then why not look into the legend of Doc Crow(e) and his Melonheads?

Mr. Corvette had started wheels turning inside of my brain.

The Melonheads were a local fixation for many of us in Chardon, during the 1980's. Stories circulated widely about sightings along Wisner Road. At the time, I frequented a free-flowing spring that was along this rural thorofare. It was in the area where strange creatures were said to have been sighted.

Liz woke as I was sorting through cyberspace entries about the legend.

"Working already?" she said with a groggy smile.

I nodded. "The Corvette guy called me at work. He had this great idea to follow my columns about the Huntsburg UFO...The Melonheads!"

"I know," she responded. "He got your number from me."

I paused at the computer. "Well anyway, look at these stories..."

Liz rubbed her eyes. "I need coffee before hearing about these Honeydew People. Will you read the stories to me, please?"

With drama in my voice, I began to repeat what had been discovered:

FORGOTTEN OHIO -

1.) "The Melon Heads are most strongly associated with Wisner Road, near Chardon. They are also often sighted on King Memorial Road, especially in or near the King Memorial Cemetery there. (When the road enters Geauga County it becomes Mentor Road, and the graveyard commonly called King Memorial is technically named Larned Cemetery.) Why they like it here, I have no idea. Maybe Dr. Crowe and his wife are buried there, and they come to visit the graves...hey, I just made that up, but it sounds pretty good. Anyway, to find the cemetery, take I-71 north to I-271, toward Erie. Get off on I-90 East. Take the Mentor/Kirtland exit onto SR 306 North. Turn right onto SR 84 for about five miles, then right on King Memorial. About half a mile down look for the Melon Heads' woods and then the cemetery."

CREEPY CLEVELAND -

1.) "On Chardon-Windsor Road on a section that was described as wooded, teenagers would stop on the road and if the moon was full, out of the forest would come small men with extremely large craniums who would amble toward their cars with a teeter-totter gait. Of course the teenagers would peel away frightened and tell their schoolmates about the men with the big heads. The rumor was that the men had come from a nearby insane asylum which had long since been burnt down."

2.) "I used to live by the woods on Wisner Road near the Lundgren barn. When I was ten years old I had a brief encounter with a Melonhead. It was an early autumn night around 10:00pm when I heard my dog bark and I ran outside to see what was going on. When I went outside to see what the commotion was all about I found my dog lying there bleeding. I looked towards the woods and saw what I believed to be a small figure with very pale skin and a large head. When the creature saw me it ran into the woods. I went out the next morning and followed the tracks but they stopped near a creek. I am now older and very skeptical about events like this..."

BEST AND WORST -

1.) "For as long as I can remember, I've heard tales of strange creatures that inhabit the woods in a few of the towns in this area. I've always been told to be careful when traveling down Chardon-Windsor Road in Chardon, Wisner Road, and near the area surrounding the Holden Arboretum in Kirtland. There are supposed to be deformed humans living in the woods with tiny bodies and large round heads. They're known as the Melon Heads, and it is said that they hate all human beings and will kill and eat any they encounter. The reason they are filled with such hate towards humans is because of one sick man, Dr. Crow. It is because of his twisted work that they are in the physical and mental condition that they are. Dr. Crow was commissioned by the government shortly after World War II to treat children who suffered from a rare condition known as hydrocephalism, which causes large pockets of water within the brain. Crow ran a small institution of sorts for these kids, and donated not only his services, but his own land, for the venture. The government sent him these kids, thinking he was doing a good deed and a great favor to society. Little did they know what evil acts were actually occurring in the woods of Northern Ohio."

Amazingly, there were even reports of the Melonhead legend being told in the state of Michigan:

UNEXPLAINED MYSTERIES -

1.) "I live deep in the Allegan Woods of Michigan, about 1 mile away from an abandoned insane asylum. The legend around here is that the melonheads used to reside in this building after it was no longer being used. They are said to be dark creatures that come out only at night, and do not usually interact with humans. They are very fast and can jump in a way that seems to defy gravity. Although I have never encountered any of these Melonheads, they still make for a great story!"

2.) "The story is true of the Melonheads but the version of everybody's stories are wrong. The Melonheads live in Bridgeman Michigan next to the Cook nuclear power plant. Shortly after the plant was built there was a radiation leak that deformed all these people and also gave them enlarged heads. The government gave these people their own community and they are not allowed to leave. They will chase you out and yes I have witnessed one and it is the scariest thing I have ever seen."

I finished as my wife returned with coffee and powdered donuts. Her mood brightened with each sip of Java.

"There is also a collection of fantastic material in 'Weird Ohio' by James A. Willis, Andrew Henderson, and Loren Coleman," I explained.

Liz sat on our bed. "Those tales give me the Watermelon Willies!" she smirked. "Don't tell me you saw one yourself...?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "No, I can't make that claim. But my brother, Bubba, went on a Melonhead expedition once."

She was intrigued. "Really? And he saw them?"

"Not exactly," I said. "He and a friend went to Wisner Road after dark. They intended to search for unusual creatures. But after hunting through the woods, they returned to the road, empty-handed. Then, they noticed a car parked in the grass. Only a single occupant appeared to be inside. In the moonlight, Bubba and his partner both caught the silhouette of a raised firearm through the driver's window. That ended the hunt. They scrambled for my brother's vehicle, and drove away."

My wife giggled. "So what's next? A column about Bigfoot?"

"Don't laugh!" I said. "Someone at work passed along a homemade book about beast sightings in Ashtabula County..."

Liz sighed. "Send a message to Agent X. I'm going to the kitchen for another cup of coffee!"

Time: Approx: 11:30 p.m.

I have never believed in UFOs however, I saw this same green light last night 12/13 around 11:30 p.m. on my drive home. I was facing/driving south on Canterbury Road in Shakopee, MN between Valley View and Eagle Creek roads.

The green light was only there for about 1 or two seconds and it was below the clouds and went in the direction of a local casino that shines lights into the sky.

Very strange. My wife was and the car and she also saw it. Where else has this been seen? Do we know what it is?

If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.

Also, please feel free to send in your sightings that have happened years ago. So many of these older sightings are nothing short of amazing.

Aliens In The Bible
SHORT UFO FACT: [CARSWELL AFB. Air Force base in Texas where a famous and well documented sighting took place at 2300 hours on 4th February 1954 in full view of the control tower personnel. The object passed directly over the Carswell tower at 3-4,000 feet, and was described as having a long fuselage, elliptical wings and a stabilizer, but with no visible means of propulsion. No sound could be detected. The aircraft had a very bright light in the nose and tail, and two yellowish lights on the bottom. Subsequent investigations revealed that no local aircraft were responsible, and that they was no unusual activity that could contribute to the sighting. The witnesses were described as '"completely reliable"' ]

UFO SIGHTING VIDEO FILMED BY THE FAMOUS BILLY MEIER

SHORT UFO FACT: [In December 1980, Betty Cash, Vickie Landrum and her grandson Colby Landrum, were driving along a road in Huffman, Texas when they saw a bright light in the sky. After driving a little more along the road, they came across a large diamond shaped UFO hovering over the road belching fire out of the bottom. Since the flames were blocking the road, they had to stop the car about 65 yards away from the craft and the three of them got out. Vickie and Colby stayed by the car, whereas Betty went on to get a closer look. She spent a long time gazing at it and her skin began to burn because of the heat from the flames. She returned to the car when the object began to rise and a large number of unmarked black helicopters chased after the UFO.]

Al Qaeda And The Ufos
An op-ed piece in the New York Times, written by UFO researcher Nick Pope and found on-line here, seems to be suggesting that a major reorganization of funding and monitoring efforts needs to be made in the U.S. And what should we be monitoring more closely?

Why, reports of UFOs, of course.

Pope seems to be trying to make the point that, despite people reporting seeing UFOs in American (and, presumably, secure) airspace, the US Gov't hasn't investigated UFO reports since the late 60s. According to Pope, this is an unconscionable breach in security that the government isn't taking seriously.

I'm not quite sure that the logic comes through for ol' Pope there. He seems to be trying to make the following argument: "we all like security right? Well, UFOs that some folks claim to see don't show up on radar, right? That means we can't track em with radar, so we need to take these reports seriously, since it would be dangerous to ignore them".

Why would it be dangerous to ignore them, exactly? Have the Nazis on the Moon been replaced by Al-Qaeda on the Moon? Or are we fearing an imminent invasion from the stars? The piece isn't clear about the "why", of course, merely extolling us to start paying UFO claims more attention, particularly at the official, government level.
